2012 Is the 50th Anniversary of the 5th Virginia Cavalry !
Welcome our newest member - Kelsey Painter !
Formed in August 1962 the 5th Virginia Cavalry has been a member of the North - South Skirmish Association, for 50 years.
Unlike most competitive shooting organizations, the N-SSA has something fun for everyone in the family. After competition is done for the day each team has their own campsite to congregate at and discuss the day's events. Most people camp out during the two to four day match. After a day of shooting and good meal at camp, we'll hang out by the campfire telling stories and jokes or wander to other camps in search of friends (old and new).
Our main contingent of members are located in the greater Washington DC area. We also have members located in Maryland, Austin Texas, Richmond Va. and throughout North Carolina. Anyone that is interested in the shooting of original and reproduction Civil War, muskets, carbines and revolvers for competition and fun, e-mail one of our team members. We'd be happy to introduce you to the fun we have enjoyed for years.
